hi, we are travelling to Japan next week and we are purchasing a rail pass before we go.
I would like to check that we can travel via train on the following routes and could you also tell me the appproximate travel times:-
Tokyo to Osaka
Osaka to Hiroshima
Hiroshima to Nagasaki
Nagasaki to Tokyo
Also, is travel via train available on weekends, Sat and Sun?

You should be able to get to all your destinations using the JR Pass, and will be able to travel on weekdays and weekends with no problems. Here are some basic itineraries for you to base your travel on:

Hi Paula,
No problem! I think if you're on a budget you can expect to pay something in the region of ¥300-500 for breakfast, ¥300-1000 for lunch and ¥1000-3000 for dinner. You can eat for a lot cheaper and way more expensive, but budgeting for that amount will allow you to sample a wide range of things without totally breaking the bank.
