Chubu Centrair to Osaka to Nagoya

Good day!

My mom and I will be staying in Japan for 5 nights and 4 days. Our itinerary (for easier viewing) is as follows:

First night: Arrive at Chubu Centrair Nagoya and travel to hotel in Namba, Osaka Day 1: Explore Osaka Day 2: Check out from hotel in Osaka, travel to Nagoya and Check in to hotel in Nagoya (I'm still thinking if we can make a side trip to Kyoto) Day 3: Go to Inuyama to visit Meiji Mura Day 4: Explore Nagoya and depart from Chubu Centrair

I think the JR Nationwide pass won't be worth it since we'll only be in Japan for 4 days, and I'm considering the JR Kansai Pass or Icoca Pass for the whole day stay in Osaka (and the side trip to Kyoto). Would I be able to save more if I buy that?

And another thing, are there passes for traveling to and from Nagoya (especially for the Meitetsu Line in Nagoya) and Osaka? I read that the train fees cost around 6000 yen.

I really hope someone could help me with this. :)

I'll be re-posting the itinerary since I can't edit it:

First night: Arrive at Chubu Centrair Nagoya and travel to hotel in Namba, Osaka

Day 1: Explore Osaka

Day 2: Check out from hotel in Osaka, travel to Nagoya and Check in to hotel in Nagoya
(I'm still thinking if we can make a side trip to Kyoto)

Day 3: Go to Inuyama to visit Meiji Mura

Day 4: Explore Nagoya and depart from Chubu Centrair

Hello there!

Thank you for clarifying your itinerary, makes finding the best option for you much easier.
I think that you are right about the JRPass, instead it would be better to buy normal tickets as you travel. You could also use local trains for your travel if you want to make savings. Additionally you could look into Meitetsu Pass which is also good for travel between Nagoya - Kyoto/Osaka. However it's use is somewhat limited as it is only valid on Meitetsu lines.

Buying an ICOCA (or Manaca in Nagoya) is also a good idea. These are prepaid travel cards you use to enter and exit the station when riding the train. The ticket gate will then charge the corresponding fee. This is a great way to get around as you don't have to buy tickets separately each time.

Hope this helps and enjoy Japan!
Daniel

Thank you very much for that information. :D I think it will be more cost-effective to buy Meitetsu Passes. Are they just the same as Kintetsu Passes (as shown in your link)?

And another thing, can I use the ICOCA card in Nagoya or only in Osaka? What if I still have load in my ICOCA card?

Hi again!

You can use the ICOCA (or Manaca) in both Nagoya and Osaka. So its very handy!

(I somehow confused them, but it is indeed the Kintetsu pass)

Oh alright. That's so nifty. :D

I have made up my mind on buying the Kintetsu Pass, since it's the only pass which can be used in the Meitetsu Line from Chubu airport. :D Thank you for the swift reply! :D
