Is it cheaper to buy one ticket from Hokkaido - Yamamgata or get the JR east pass?

Hi Again,
It would depend on from where you travel in Hokkaido.
The JR East Pass would only cover your travel from Aomori to Yamagata.
In comparison a ticket Sapporo - Yamagata is ¥ 18,660
and Hakodate - Yamagata - ¥ 14,960
