I would like to know
If I want to travel to the takyama festival in the spring what are my options?
I dont want to sleep in takayama it is to expensive.
I just want to know which trains I can take in order to get to the festival on time.

Hi there,
The nearest cities with connections for Takayama are Nagoya and Kanazawa. Of the two choices, Nagoya will have more accommodation options, but Kanazawa is a nice city to visit in it's own right. You can also take a look at Toyama.
The Takayama spring festival runs over 2 days (14th and 15th of April). To enjoy the entire festival, you should aim to be in Takayama for around 9:30am each day.
Here are some rail options for you from Nagoya, Kanazawa and Toyama:
- From Nagoya (dept 7:45am, arrive 10:00am)
- From Kanazawa (dept 7:10am, arrive 9:35am)
- From Toyama (dept 8:00am, arrive 9:35am)
Please note that these trains are likely to be busy, so I recommend reserving seats as soon as you arrive in Japan.
