Hello, a friend and I will be going to Japan soon, and I am trying to figure out what pass/route/ticket combo would be best. We are starting in Tokyo, then wanting to travel to Hiroshima (for 2 days), then onto Kyoto (3 days) then Osaka (3 days) then back to Tokyo... I feel like the 14 day JR pass is expensive when the rest of the time in each city we will most likely be using local trains or subways... Please help.

Hi there,
Yes, you're right that you'd be spending more time using local transport, so it's likely that the 14-day pass would not be your most cost-effective option.
Kind regards,
Alexis
