Hi there,

We are visiting Tokyo (5 days), Mt Fuji (3 days), Kyoto (5 days), Kashiwara (2days), Nara (2 days), Osaka(2 days) and then back to Tokyo from 2nd of April to 22nd of April.
From a quick check if we buy single tickets, the total price would be
Tokyo - Mt Fuji =AUD54
Mt Fuji - Kyoto = AUD120
Kyoto - Shiki = AUD38
Shiki - Nara = AUD11
Shiki - Osaka = AUD9
Osaka - Tokyo = AUD163
tot. AUD395
If I buy a rail pass I would need a 2 weeks pass at AUD899...
Would I be correct to say that there is no reason for me to buy a rail pass, but I should buy single train tickets?

thanks for your help
kind regards
Ricky

Hi Ricky,

I'm happy to help! Given your itinerary and the cost calculations you've provided, purchasing individual tickets is the most cost-effective approach for your trip.

For your travel within the Kansai Region (Kyoto, Kashiwara, Nara, and Osaka), I would also recommend looking into Kansai Area Passes. These regional passes can offer significant savings and convenience for travel within this specific area. Depending on your exact travel plans within the Kansai region, there are several variations of these passes available. You can look into the Kansai Area Pass, or the Kansai Wide Area Pass.

I hope you have a wonderful trip to Japan!

Kind Regards,

Mariko
