Hi Susan,

Yes, the JR Pass covers this. You can use the JR Yokohama line. Departures are very frequent.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel-san,

Good evening..

Thank you for your kind help.

I want to go to Kyoto from Osaka, but i don't use JR Pass (I will use it when i travel to Tokyo from Osaka)
Since Kyoto is nearby from Osaka, i want to use reguler train instead.

My plan is to go to the nearest destinations first.
Questions :
1. Which one is the best place to go first?
From Osaka to Fushimi Inari Shrine - Kiyomizudera - Nishiki Market then Kinkakujji Temple
If i choose this should i hop on Yodobayashi Station by Keihan Railway, what station do i have to get off to
Fushimi Inari Shrine?

From Osaka to Nishiki Market - Fushimi Inari Shrine - Kiyomizudera - Kinkakujji Temple
If i choose this then i have to hop on Hankyu Kyoto Line from Umeda station and get off at Central Kyoto station, is
it right or wrong?

  1. Do i have to reserve seats on JR Pass from Osaka to Tokyo?
If i have to, then when is the right time to reserve it? I will be arrive at Japan on December 25th 2016.

My flight from KL to Tokyo (transit) then to Osaka, i don't know whether i have time to do it, since i have to juggle
from Narita to Haneda airport to catch the flight to Osaka. And i arrive at Osaka at 21.50pm. By the time i think
JR pass office allready close.

  1. Lastly, do you have any recommendations on where to visit/go in Kyoto, besides my itinerary?
And what local people love to eat there. I want to try it as well..

Thank you so much..

Best Regards,
Susan

Hi Susan,

I recommend getting familiar with the Kyoto bus network, this is by far the easiest way to explore Kyoto and visit everything. You can use the bus to stop right in front of Kiyomizudera.

1.) You could do it on the 26th or 27th as well but the sooner the better. Exchange offices will be closed by 22:00 in Japan in any case. I definitely do recommend reserving seats for the new year period.

2.) Nishiki market is the best for local food in Kyoto, there are many small things you can eat and try. For other visits in Kyoto, personally I really enjoyed hiking from Kurama to Kibune. It is about 1h hike and you walk along a forest trail that passes many small temples. It is not very well known by outside tourists and relatively quiet compared to other sights in Kyoto.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thank you, it is really helpful with the link you've shared.
So, it is better if i travel by bus then.

Kurama and Kibune are beautiful, it is definetely my next destinations.
This time i only have a day in Kyoto.
Thank you for your kind recommendations.

Susan

Hi Susan,

Yes but is really good in Kyoto. You can buy a day ticket from the bus driver for 500yen. One bus ride is 230yen flat fee, so it is easy to make savings.

Hi Daniel,

Oh, so i can buy it directly from the bus driver for 500yen.
With a day ticket it covers all around Kyoto, from south to east, west and north? It is really really convenient and money savings then. Soo happy

Thank you..

Best Regards,
Susan
