Hello, Would like your advice on whether the JR rail pass would be a good option for us. We are a family of four. We are looking to start our trip from Osaka airport, Kansai and traveling to Nara. Then, Nara to Kyoto. Then, Kyoto to Hiroshima. Then, Hiroshima to Kagoshima. Then Kagoshima to Tokyo. All this would be in the course of 24 days in Japan. Thank you for your advice, MSP

Hi there,
It is always easier to use the Nationwide JR Pass for your journey. However, the most cost-effective option would be to combine the Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass (5 days) or the Sanyo-San'in Area Pass (7 days) and single train tickets.
You can see regional pass options here.
I hope this helps!
Kind Regards,
Mariko
