I am travelling with 4 people (3 adults and 14yr Daughter) for 12-day trip, starting from Tokyo on 16th November and then flying back from Osaka on 28th Nov. I want to stay in Tokyo surroundings for 5~6 days and then remain in Kyoto; Osaka and Hiroshima area. What will be the most cost-efficient options for travelling within Japan? Do you recommend an accommodation area that is close to rail stations? We want to visit Disney for a day.

Hi there,
For transport, I would recommend a one way ticket Tokyo - Kyoto, then use a Kansai - Hiroshima. Personally, I love this pass as gives very good savings to Hiroshima, and includes the Nozomi train between Shin-Osaka and Hiroshima.
The area around Osaka station, better known is Umeda, is a great spot to base yourself to explore locally and further afield from. There are plenty of hotel options too, from budget to luxury. In Tokyo, anywhere within, or close to the Yamanote line is a good choice.
Happy travels,
Daniel
