Hello,
We plan on purchasing a 21-day JR Pass starting in Kanazawa on Sept 30, 2023. We will go directly to Hakodate and stay for 2 nights. From here, the plan is to go to Sapporo but stuck at where to travel around Hokkaido to see the beautiful Autumn views and utilizing the best Onsens. Any help here? I plan on renting a car once in Sapporo to see what can't be seen via train. Then, we fly back home from Narita on Oct 19, 2023.

Hi Charlie,
There is so much to see in Hokkaido, but the fast majority that is easy to access is on the route between Hakodate and Sapporo and all accessible by train.
Such as:
- Oshima Koen (national park)
- Lake Toya
- Otaru
- Nobori Betsu (for Onsen)
- Otaru
Once you get through those, then you could go to Asahikawa, Furano, Daisetsuzan national park and if you still have time left, explore the north coast.
