We are going on a 7 day trip to Japan after Christmas, we will be based in Nagoya, but we want to travel to Kyoto, Osaka and Kanazawa. We initially thought of purchasing the JR Takayama-Hokuriku Tourist pass as it covers all these places but it says it only includes the Hokuriku Shinkansen line and not the Tokaido Shinkansen line. We wanted to ride the Shinkansen going from Nagoya - Kyoto-Nagoya on Day 1, Nagoya-Kanazawa-Nagoya on Day 2, Nagoya-Osaka Day 3 and Osaka-Nagoya Day 5. What would be the best option of JR pass for us? Is it still the JR Takayama-Hokuriku Tourist pass? Thank you,

Hi there,
There is not really any pass here that would help. Regional passes do not cover the Tōkaidō between Nagoya and Kyoto/Osaka and the normal Japan Rail Pass does, however, I do not think you travel enough for a JR Pass to help you make savings.
Kind regards,
Daniel
