Hi,
Arriving in Tokyo (Narita), on 15 december 2012,
We're planning to stay in Shin Yokohama from 15 to 18 december, then go to Kyoto from 18 to 19 december and down back to Tokyo from 19 to 23 december. We already have all hotel reservations set.
Wich combination is the best for us?
THANK YOU

Hi there,

A 7 day pass will basically be the same price as a return trip to Kyoto and return journey to Narita. As such I recommend the following combination for maximum flexibility & economy:

  1. [Narita Express + Suica prepaid metro card package] purchased at Narita on arrival will get you into town and give you ¥1500 of free metro or JR travel, allowing you to explore the city for the first 2 days.

  2. 7 day Japan Rail Pass for activation on the 18th until the 23rd. This will give you your travel all the way down to Kyoto and back and back to the airport, plus give you full JR travel flexibility should you want to visit any other areas.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, just one more question:
How about the luggage for the trip from Narita to Shin Yokohama, using the NEX?
Doesn´t be too much heavy to carry on then?
Thank you again.

Hi Roberto,

The NEX has good luggage storage facilities, so you should have no problem storing your luggage on board.

Hope this helps!
