Hi, is buying Shinkansen (bullet train) tickets/pass the same as JR pass? I’d like to travel in first class on Shinkansen trains while in Japan for two weeks but also be able to use the same pass riding local/metro trains. Is that possible? What is this kind of pass called? Thank you!

Hi there,
Yes, the JR Pass includes the Shinkansen lines, so in that case it is similar.
Do keep in mind that different usages rules applies to both type of tickets.
Kind regards,
Daniel
