Hi there,
I have plan to visit Japan on 29th December to 4th January.
For 29-31 I have booked hotel in Shinjuku and planed to travel around nearby areas.

Now I am trying to book the hotel for 1-3 jan but I still have some problem with JR pass information and my trip.
So, help me out

  1. If I want to travel from Shinjuku to Nagano and Fuji San. Which JR pass is perfect with my trip? (JR east pass 22,000 or JR Kanto pass 8,000)

  2. Which area is good to stay if I want to visit both Nagano (snow monkey) and Fuji San? (I have to get back to Haneda Airport from here on 4th)

  3. JR east pass and Kanto pass are also cover for taking me from Haneda to Shinjuku?

Thanks in advance

Hi there!

1.) I that the JR Kanto pass is probably the best option here. You can use it to Fuji and use it for most of the way to Nagano but not the complete way. However I think that this will still be more economic than buying the JR East pass.

2.) I think that it would be best to stay near Shinjuku, you can take a direct train from here to Fuji-san. For Nagano, it's better to stay near Nagano, or perhaps Yudanaka. From there it's easier to access the monkey park.

3.) Both passes cover local travel local travel in Tokyo, including the Monorail to Haneda Airport.

Hope this helps!
