Thank you for taking time to read my question,
I am in the planning stage of organizing my first trip to Japan. My main reason for going is to visit the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka. I would be in Japan for 3 nights but I will not go further than the Tokyo area.
I considered getting the JR East pass so I can go to Mitaka, Akihabara and Harajuku. Plus I need to travel to the Shiba Park Hotel and the Narita airport.
I would like to know if I could use the JR east pass so I can travel to these stations or if I need to get another ticket.

Thank you very much.

Hi there!

Looking at your plans, I think that you are best of just to purchase tickets as you travel. Travel in and around Tokyo is not very expansive and the JR East (or JR Pass for that matter) is better suited if you plan to do long distance travel or want to take a couple of rides on the bullet train.

You may be interested however in getting a [Suica + N'EX] pass, which provides a nicely discounted ticket to and from the airport in addition to an prepaid travel card which you can use to travel around Tokyo and other parts of Japan!

I hope this helps!
Daniel
