Is it possible to activate my green pass and make my reservations but not 'start the clock' on my 7-day ticket until I travel? In other words, does my 7-day pass start expiring before my first trip or does it begin when I am actually on the train?

Hi there,
You can select your starting date when you exchange the JR Pass in Japan. The pass will start counting down from this day.
