Hello! I'm going to be traveling with two large bags and was trying to figure out how to make reservations on the bullet train for traveling, I already have my tickets but I was wondering if they had to be activated first by the booth in Japan or if I could make the reservations now. thank you

Hi there,
You’ll be able to reserve seats in Japan, either at manned ticket desks or ticket machines in JR stations - I would suggest just speaking to someone at a ticket office, as they can organise whatever you need if you tell them.
