Hi,

Does First Class means Green Car?

Is the only advantage is First Class is better seats? Anything to do with timing of trains, or authorised for more routes?

HI there,

Yes, First Class means Green Car. The Green car doesn't authorise travel on more routes (both the standard and green car cover all JR routes in Japan), but does mean much bigger seating, less crowded trains. We have a blog post with more on Green Cars here.

Hope this helps!
