Hi Daniel-San!
Hope this message finds you well. :)
I'm going to Japan (arrival - April, 18th at 20:05 at NRT airport) and (departure - April, 28th at 21:35 from NRT airport as well). The main idea is to do (not necessarily in this order):
Tokyo (also see Mt. Fuji - day trip), Takayama, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka and Kanazawa.
Do you suggest an order for this itinerary? Considering holidays, etc.
Also I have a doubt regarding the transportation in Japan.. it's so complicated.. :(
I'm going to stay in the country for 10 days and not 7 days (the minimum JRPass package), I don't know if I buy, ticket by ticket, or a 7 day regional pass Osaka-Tokio Hokuriku Pass (that is cheaper than the 7 day Ordinary Pass) or the Ordinary that covers more places.
Also I'm not sure if I buy one of these tickets, I don't have to buy also a SUICA or PASMO card to get around in Tokyo.
Since I'll be undercovered for 3 days (if I buy one of these 2 options of JRPasses). What would be your suggestion for me?
I apologize any typos and grammar mistakes, since English is not my first language, also I don't know if I made myself clear.
Thank you in advance.

Hi there,

I would recommend staying in Tokyo first (and making your day trip to Fuji), then taking the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Kanazawa and then making your way to the Kyoto/Osaka/Nara area. A Hokuriku Pass sounds like a good idea, provided you can fit all of your train journeys within its 7-day timeframe. There will be some changes to the Hokuriku Pass including a change in price after March 16th as it will cover shinkansen up to Tsuruga - make sure to purchase it before then!

The Hokuriku Pass will give you access to the JR Yamanote line in Tokyo, but if you want to use more of the metro and use the metro in other places as well you'll need to purchase a SUICA card or equivalent.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
