Which Regional Pass to get

Hi,

My planned trip in April 2024 to Japan covers the following places:

Kansai International Airport (Osaka)~ Takayama (post town) -shirakawa-go ~ Kurobe alpine Route ~ Kamikochi ~ Shinhotaka Ropeway ~ Nakasendo Trail ~ Nagoya ~ Kansai International Airport (Osaka).

The duration is 9 days (including arrival & departure dates).

I wonder whether I should get “Alpine-Takayama-Matsumoto Area
Tourist Pass” or “Takayama Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass” for most cost effective way. Thanks

Hi there,

Both passes are valid for 5 consecutive days only, so please note that if you plan on travelling for more than 5 consecutive days I would suggest purchasing tickets individually. I would suggest purchasing the Alpine-Takayama-Matsumoto Area
Tourist Pass
, as it includes the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route - this means, however, that you'll have to purchase separate bus tickets to get to Shirakawa-go.

Hope this helps!

Hi Alexis,

Thanks for your suggestion. Appreciated it.

May I ask apart from Shirakawa-go bus tickets, are other places bus rides covered under this alpine-takayama-matsumoto-area-Tourist pass?

Thanks again for your assistance in this matter.

Hi Alexis,

In addition to the above, my route as follows:

16/4 ~ kansai airport to Takayama
17/4 ~ Takayama (post town)
18/4 ~ Shirakawa-go~Toyama
19/4 ~ Kurobe alpine route ~ Okuhidaonsen Hirayu area (Takayama)
20/4 ~ Kamikochi
21/4 ~ Shinhotaka Ropeway
22-23/4 ~ Nakasendo Trail
24/4 ~ Nagoya
25/4 ~ kansai airport

My questions:
1) I hv to buy shirakawa-go bus ticket because it is located in Gifu prefecture which is not cover under Alpine-Takayama-Matsumoto-Tourist-Pass radar?
2) if I use my aforesaid Regional Pass the moment I landed at Kansai Airport on 16/4, my pass will literally expired on 20/4 mid nite @ 12.00a.m. Ie 21/4 onwards to buy individual tickets till return to Kansai?
3) all the bus rides (except shirakawa-go bus ticket) throughout my planned travel path basically covered under the regional pass?

Thank you very much for your kind assistance in this matter. Much appreciated.

Best regards-Amanda
