I obtained a Japan Regional Pass back in July for my upcoming trip this August. Regrettably, I've just come to realize that this pass will extend my travel time from Tokyo to Kyoto. I'm now interested in acquiring the Japan Rail Pass instead.I did notice on the Regional Pass documentation that a refund is possible with a 10% charge, which I'm okay with. However, it does mention that this can only be done at specific pass exchange offices. I'm curious if requesting a refund at Narita Airport is an option. Lastly, if I do proceed with the refund for the regional pass, will I still be able to purchase the Japan Rail Pass on the same day?
Purchased the wrong pass
Hi there,
It will depend on what pass you have. If you were to exchange the pass, then you could refund it only at the exchange station where the pass was activated.
Kind regards,
Daniel
I purchased the Osaka-Tokyo Hokuriku Arch pass. Am I able to refund this pass and purchase the Japan Rail pass instead at Narita Airport?
Yes, I believe so.
