I understand that the JR pass will increase in price in October. We (2 adults) will be traveling to/in Japan between 30th of September and 17th of October. I have 2 questions:

  • Will the price increase affect our trip if we buy the JR pass end of August/beginning of September as we planned?

  • With our itinerary, is it worth it to get two 14 day passes or should we stick to two 7 day passes (if so, where can we pick up the JR pass during our trip). This is our itinerary: 30 Sept.: Kansai airport>Osaka (JR Nanba)
    4 Oct.: Osaka>Kyoto
    8 Oct.: Kyoto>Kinosaki Onsen
10 Oct.: Kinosaki Onsen>Kyoto>Nara or Nagoya
    11 Oct.: Nara or Nagoya>Tokyo
    17 Oct.: Tokyo>Haneda Airport

Hi there,

1.) You will be able to travel using the old fares, as long as your ticket was issued before the price changes.

2.) A JR Pass will not be worth it on this route.

Kind regards,
Daniel
