We are a family of three adults landing in Tokyo on December 22
We have a hotel reserved in Hiroshima Dec-22-26
Kyoto Dec 26-28 Tokyo Dec 28-Jan 2

I really don't know which pass to buy and if we need to reserve ahead of time for seats and/ or luggage. My wife speaks Japanese but I am doing all the planning.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,

Purchasing your tickets individually is likely to be your most cost-effective option, as your itinerary of train travel is not contained within a 7-day period. This means you'll be able to purchase your tickets online in advance, and so you'll be able to reserve seats with space for extra luggage, which will be indicated. This can be done on sites such as Japan Travel or on the designated JR websites for each region of Japan.

Kind regards,

Alexis
