Hello,

Thank you for your help in guiding my trip. I am traveling to Japan for 8 days, and would like to spend time in all 3 cities. Would it make sense to purchase a JR Pass for these 3 cities? Our goal would be to take bullet trains where possible to shorten the travel time, as we are limited in our time in Japan. My goal would be to stay in Tokyo for 4 days, then do a one full day and ryokan stay in Hakone. Leave the next morning for Kyoto for 2 days and then train back to Tokyo. Does this seem too ambitious?

Hi there,

Yes, A 7-day JR Pass makes sense for this route. As long as you cover Tokyo - Hakone (Odawara station) - Kyoto - Tokyo with it.

I think the plan makes sense and does not include too much travel.

Kind regards,
Daniel
