So, we plan to fly into Narita and then to yokosuka where our son is stationed. From there we will go to Kyoto for a couple of days. Then back to yokosuka where we will take a couple of day trips to kamakura, hakone, or possibly the izu peninsula or other nearby sites. Then back to Narita and home. Should we purchase a rail pass?
Should we buy rail pass?
Hi there!
It would depend on how long the intervals are between your travel dates but I do think that a 7 Day JRPass would be a great help.
For instance a return Yokosuka - Kyoto alone is ¥ 28,240 the 7 day JR Pass is 28,300 yen, so it would be very easy to make savings with it. Especially if you would make further day trips but even a one way ticket to the Airport would pay off.
I hope this helps!
Daniel
Daniel, we plan to arrive on dec 16 and fly back home on the 22. So assume the 7 day pass will work for that.
Hi Again,
What I mean you could consider doing is buying a 7 day JR Pass and use it for your travel to Kyoto in addition perhaps a day trip or so. Also Dec 16-22 are 7 days if you count each date as a full day, so you could use the JR Pass for travel to and from the Airport as well.
