Hi Daniel-san

I am having difficult checking if its worth the 14 JR Railpass

I will travel from Haneda to Sendai and then return to Nagoya same day

Then I will travel Nagoya to Edogowa followed by Edogowa to Shizuoka

and finially Sizuoka to Haneda to exit over 13 days

I have done the maths using hypermia and excluding the nozomi and Mizuho bullet trains

I thought that was the same as using the JR Pass

Saving about $100

and perhaps 20mins longer by not using the Nozomi

is that about right ?

thanks for the help

Regards,

Hi there,

I would say your initial research is correct. I did the same for your itinerary and ran it through our JR Fare calculator, results are here. Together with local travel to and from the airport and around the city, savings of around a 100 USD are accurate.

The Hikari and Nozomi difference to Nagoya is minimum. I believe it is 19-20 minute to Kyoto and Nagoya should be even less.

Hope this helps :)
Daniel
