Hi there, here are some answers that will help:
Can I purchase the 7 days JRPass at Kansai Airport(JR Counter), Any Form need to prepare ?
I'm afraid the Japan Rail Pass is only available for purchase outside Japan. jrpass.com can arrange delivery to Japan if needed.
We are planing to arrive on the 16th of March and to leave on the 24th of March. Would it be possible to make the following itinerary with the 07-day pass? We are 2 adults. Arrive in KANSAI AIRPORT,OSAKA 16th and then overnight one day at Osaka and the go to Nagoya on the next day. We plan stay 3 night at Nagoya with same Hotel and plan go to MT Fuji,Takayama and visit local place. After that, return to osaka and stay 3 night and plan go to Kyoto,Nara, Kobe. What would be the best option for us? Should we buy a mix of individual passes + the 07 day pass or a 14 day pass for all of us? Any pass is valid for 8 days?
Lets take a look a the costs of individual tickets for your trip without the transfers to and from Kansai Airport:
- Osaka > Nagoya: ¥6180, (66mins, 190km)
- Nagoya > Odawara: ¥8700, (71mins, 282km)
- Odawara > Takayama: ¥12410, (239mins, 448km)
- Takayama > Osaka: ¥10310, (220mins, 357km)
- Osaka > Kyoto: ¥540, (29mins, 42km)
- Kyoto > Osaka: ¥1680, (27mins, 42km)
- Osaka > Nara: ¥780, (51mins, 48km)
- Nara > Osaka: ¥780, (55mins, 48km)
- Osaka > Kobe: ¥780, (55mins, 48km)
- Kobe > Osaka: ¥780, (55mins, 48km)
TOTAL: ¥42940 for 10 legs
Based on these costs, a 7 day rail pass at ¥28,300 will save you ¥14,640 on individual tickets so I would certainly aim to go for this option. In addition to this you will need to purchase a return ticket to Kansai International Airport, and also from Odawara you will need to use the Odakyu Hakone Railway system to get up to Hakone (for views of Mt Fuji) as it is not a JR operated line. You can find out more on the Hakone free pass online. If you intend to get closer to Mt Fuji, you will need to go to Kawaguchiko from Nagoya at a cost of ¥12120 vs ¥8700 for Odawara - this will make the 7 day rail pass even better value.
Overall I think the itinerary looks good, but you may find the Mt Fuji legs need an overnight stay to fully get the most out of your trip. (and I love Takayama!)
Hope this helps!
