Hi guys,

I only have a rough itinerary at this stage but would really appreciate some help.

My partner and I will be flying into Osaka (KIX) on the 28th December.

So, train into the city. Osaka - Nara return. Osaka - Kyoto return. Plus any local trains.
Then up to Nagano on the 1st Jan. (either Hakuba, Myoko or Nozawa)

Trains in between the ski areas listed above.

Nagano - Tokyo on the 17th Jan.
Train out to airport (NRT) on the 20th Jan. Plus any local trains.

So at this early stage, am I looking at a JR Pass? I'm over the 21 days unfortunately so I'm not quite sure what to do...

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers,
Mitch

Hi Mitch,

Looking at your plan so far, I would say go for normal tickets, this because your train travel is not that much and your long distance travel is limited to two legs. These are Osaka - Nagano (¥ 11,670) and Nagano - Narita Airport (¥ 10,680). I am also saying this because it is better to take an express bus between the Ski resorts which is specially build to transport snow gear.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
