Good day,

We need help with our itinerary, we will be arriving in Kansai on April 30, 19:55. We will get our JR Pass in the morning of May 1, can we get it in the train station or the airport?

Which is a better hotel when it comes to convenience to the train station, Star Gate Hotel or Best Western Hotel. We will stay for only one night and in the morning, we would use the train and go to Tokyo. Can you please give us a guide from our hotel to Tokyo? Which stations will we be riding to go to our hotel at Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku?

From Sunroute Plaza, how can we get to Sensoji Temple, can you please give us a guide on which trains to get there? Then after Sensoji Temple, we will go to Shibuya. Can you give us a guide on how to get there and after, how to get back from Shibuya to Hotel Sunroute Plaza. On May 2 and 3, we'll go to Disneyland and Disney sea. Can you teach us how to get there from Hotel Sunroute Plaza and how to go back? On May 4, we will go to Sanrio Puroland, can you give us a guide on how to get there from Hotel Sunroute Plaza? Then after Puroland, we will go to Harajuku and back to the Hotel. Can you give us a guide on how to get to Puroland to Harajuku and Harajuku to Hotel Sunroute Plaza. On May 6 morning, we will go to Cross Hotel Shinsaibashi, Osaka. Can you give us directions to get to Cross Hotel from Hotel Sunroute Plaza?

On May 7, from Cross Hotel Shinsaibashi, we will go to Universal Studios. Can you give us a guide on which trains to get and how to get to Universal from our Hotel and back? On May 9 we will go back home. Can you give us directions on how to get to the airport from Cross Hotel Shinsaibashi?

Thank you very much in helping us with our endeavor :)

Hi Margaret,

Welcome back! I thought I remembered you from a previous post. Good to see that planning your Itinerary is going well!

The JR Ticket office @ Kansai Airport is open until 23:00, so you can activate your JR-Pass the moment that you arrive. Alternatively Osaka station opens at 5:30 the next morning.

Both Hotels are very close to train stations, you can find Star Gate Kansai Airport just outside of Rinku Town station and Best western Hotel outside of Hineno which is one station further. Stargate easiest the find, it is only one stop from Kansai Airport and if you have time you could visit Rinku Town from there.

Once you continue your journey the next morning to Tokyo and Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku return to the Kansai Airport station and take the limited express Haruka to Shin-Osaka, this is the Shinkansen station for Osaka. Take the Hikari train to Tokyo station. Leave the Shinkansen platform and transfer to the Yamanote line that takes you to Shinjuku. Go to the south exit and it is only a short walk from here. See map + Hotel directions here. You can find the complete train route here.

Sightseeing in Tokyo

For the Sensoji Temple go to Asakura, the best way is to take the Yamonote line again from Shinjuku and go to Ueno station, here transfer to the Tokyo Metro and take the Ginza line to Asakusa.

For Puroland, please see this route. I have not been there myself but it looks very cool! When you wish to go to Harajuku, I would suggest returning to Shinjuku first as that is the easiest way and Harajuku is not far away.

For Harajuku you can take the Yamanote line again from Shinjuku station, it is only a couple of stops away. What is really convenient about the Yamanote line is that it makes a loop trough Tokyo and stops at many of the great wards, like Shinjuku, Harajuku, Shibuya, Ueno and more. Harajuku station is not very big, just take the central exit and you will be facing the main shopping street.

Going Back to Osaka

When you leave for Cross Hotel Shinsaibashi, Osaka, take the Yamanote line again from Tokyo station and transfer to the Hikari Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka. Take the Midosuji metro line to Shinsai bashi and take exit nr.14. You should almost be able to see the hotel now. Here is a local map.

For Universal city take the subway to Namba station, there you can take the JR-Line to Universal studio.

When you head back to the airport take the Midosuji line to Osaka station, here you can take the Airport express train that takes you directly to Kansai Airport.

Have a great time in Japan!

Hi Margaret,

Sorry about that!

Here is the route from Shinjuku to Disneyland;
The station for the Disney Resorts is called Maihama and can be reached by JR, it is also covered by the JR-Pass. From there you can take the Disney Monorail or walk to the park.

Here is an example route from Shinjuku.
To simplify it somewhat: The route involves one transfer at Tokyo, so from Shinjuku take any train to Tokyo station, here transfer to the JR Keiyo Line Rapid and get out at Maihama, it takes about 15 minutes from Tokyo station.

Let me know if I can help out with anything else!

Hi Margaret,

Good to hear its coming close now, hope things are becoming positively exiting!

From Sensoji Temple (Asakusa) take this route first by subway and from Hachobori by JR.

From Puroland to Akihabara may be a little bit tricky. First take the Keio line to Shinjuku and from there take the Yamanote line to Akihabara. Here you can find the full route.

Akihabara - Shibuya is easy, go back to the JR Akihabara station and take the Yamanote line again and get out at Shibuya.

Shibuya to Shinjuku is also a short ride on the Yamanote line, so very easy. Here you can find the access page from the Hotel, it is only 3min walk from the station.

From Hotel sunroute walk to Shinjuku station and take the Yamanote line to Harajuku, same thing back.

As you can read above you will make use a lot of the Yamonote-line, this is a loop line that makes a circle trough greater Tokyo and is very hand. Here is a map with all the stations on the Yamanote line, so you can get a feeling for it.

Osaka:
Both Dotombori and Namba are very close to your Hotel and can be reached on foot in 5-10 minutes.
I would recommend asking the staff for the exact way if you are unsure.

For Umeda take the Osaka City Subway Midosuji Line from Shinsaibashi and get out at Umeda, its just 6 minutes away!

Hope this helps,
Daniel
