Please could you let me know if this itinery is possible on the weekend of 3 May this year, and if yes, what route would the train take from Kanazawa to Tokyo? We would like to stop one night somewhere between Kanazawa and Tokyo that would be convenient for the train, but also interesting to visit. do you have any suggestions for the stop-over?

thanks

Hi caz!

Yes, this route is very possible. I think you have 2 possible route options:

  1. Kanazawa > Gero Onsen > Tokyo
  2. Kanazawa > Takayama > Tokyo

Both Gero Onsen and Takayama will make great stops, with the rail journey being particularly nice in this area.

Hope this helps!
