Hello,

I have an upcoming trip planned and would like to confirm if the JR rail pass will cover most routes. My itinerary is as follows:

March 30 & 31
Narita Airport to Tokyo (by bullet train if possible). In Tokyo I wish to visit Disney sea, Chidorigafuchi Park, team lab planets, Meguro River & Shinjuku Gyoen park.

April 1-3
Tokyo to Osaka. I plan to visit Osaka Castle, universal studios, Dotonbori, Umeda sky building and possible squeeze in Himeji Castle if we have time.

Kyoto, I plan to visit the kinkaku-ji golden pavilion, Gion and the philosophers path.

Would I be able to complete my itinerary with the JR rail pass?

Thank you for your time.

Salena

Hi there,

You can visit all the cities you want with the JR Pass and I'd say about 95-98% of your travel cost will be covered. That said, you may still have to use local transport not included in the JR Pass, such as the bus or metro. An example is Kinkakuji and Goin in Kyoto, as there is no JR line available here and instead you can use the city bus.

Kind regards,
Daniel
