How to Get from Takayama Station to Yudanaka Station and onward travel to Hitachi Seaside Park?

Hi there!

It's quite a ride from Takayama to Yudanaka, first you take the train to Nagano, from where you can take the Nagano Electric Railway to Yudanaka (¥1,130). Here is the complete route in Hyperdia. The route takes 350 - 400 Minutes so take a good book along for the ride.

To get to Hitachi seaside take the train to Kastuta which takes an other from Yudanaka 276 Minutes. Most of the route is covered by the JR Pass, except for the part Yudanaka - Nagano.

All together it's quite some travel time, so consider before hand if it is worth the travel time.

follow up question, will it be a good idea to leave on the first train out from Yudanaka to go to Hitachi Seaside Park (stroll around) and head straight to tokyo around 5pm?

may I ask if there are flowers blooming in Hitachi in this time of the year? If so, what colors will we be able to see? I have been looking all around the internet for an answer but I cannot seem to find any. I am wondering if it will be worth it to travel to hitachi.

It would be possible to visit Hitachi Seaside Park and return to Tokyo after 5pm. However the total travel time from getting from Hitachi - Hitachi Seapark and then to Tokyo will eat up most of your day alone. So ask yourself if a visit to Hitachi would be worth all the travel time. Especially since Dec 23rd is a little late and I am afraid that you may not see anything blooming there.

your input is very much appreciated, I guess we will just scratch out hitachi from our itinerary and maybe come back next time in spring or autumn.
