Fastest way from Shinjuku to Kanazawa (return)

I'm visiting my relatives who live in Kanazawa City for overnight stay. May I ask for advice for the fastest way to get there and return in the evening to Shinjuku.

Is there a website I can check which stations, platforms, and time of travel?

I saw a post from a different website to take Shinjuku-Omiya-Kanazawa. But this was more than 6 years ago and im not sure if its still the same.
1) Take (Saiko/Kawagoe) or Shonan-Shinjuku Line to at Shinjuku (platform 3/4)
2) Arrive at Omiya (platform 22 basement)
3) Shinkansen gate (platform 18 2/F)

I'm a bit OCD when it comes to travelling and I have complete details of my itinerary. It would also be helpful to get description of the station if it has lifts or stairs (I have knee problem and it would helpful to know in advance). This is my first visit to Japan and it would be helpful for any help.

Hi there,

The fastest way from Shinjuky to Kanazawa would be to take a local train from Shinjuku to either Ueno or Tokyo stations, and use the Kagayaki Shinkansen.

For planning, either use Hyperdia or one of the alternatives.

I don't have the exact details at hand for each station, but all major stations in Japan are equipped to be accessible with elevators and support. From experience, I know this is the case at Shinjuku, Kanazawa, Ueno and almost every other station. You can always ask JR staff as well, they are there to help!
