Aloha,
I’ll be traveling to Japan in February 2020. I plan to stop in Tokyo 2/9. Depart for Kyoto 2/10 with a stay till 2/14. Then I will travel from Kyoto to Shinjuku 2/14-2/16. Departure on 2/16 from Narita. I’m thinking the most economical way would be a N’EX round trip ticket plus a JR Pass. I’m thinking the round trip N’EX ticket is still cheaper than a one way regular ticket from Narita to Tokyo Station? Then I could have my JR Pass active from 2/10-2/16. The problem is that I’m in Japan for 8 days and the JR Pass is only good for 7. Does this sound like a feasible plan?

Hi Erick in Hawaii :)

What price did you see for the NEX return ticket? A one way ticket is about 3.000yen, I'd be surprised if the return ticket would be cheaper than this. I think likely the best option is to buy a one way ticket into Tokyo and then use your 7-day JR Pass for the remaining days.

Kind regards,
Daniel
