  3. I understand that there are different types of JR passes, eg JR East, JR West etc. Which JR pass should I buy pls?

Hi there,

Happy new year to you too!

1.) Yes, a 7-day JR Pass will be well worth it, assuming you use it to complete the return Tokyo - Osaka with the pass.

2.) Seats rarely sell out, and you won't have a problem if you make your seat reservations 1-2 days ahead of time.

3.) The nationwide Japan Rail Pass :D

Lastly, you can use the Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka station directly to Tokyo station.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Thank you so much Daniel for your kind advice :)

Sorry, I'm not to sure what you meant by "assuming you use it to complete the return Tokyo - Osaka with the pass."

I'm aware that Haneda Airport to Shinagawa Station in Tokyo (and vice versa) is under Keikyo Line which is not covered by the JR pass. As such, I will only be using the JR pass (technically for 5 day only) for the following rides. Are they all covered under JR pass, and is it still worth getting the 7 Day JR Pass please?

Day 1 : Shinagawa Station (Tokyo) > Shin-Osaka Station (Osaka)
Day 2 : Shin-Osaka Station (Osaka) > Kii-Tanabe Station (Kumano)
Day 3 : No travel
Day 4 : Kii-Katsuura Station (Kumano) > Shinagawa Station (Tokyo)
Day 5-6 : Use the JR pass on Yamanote Line to travel around Shinjuku, Shibuya in Tokyo
Day 7 : Depart from Shinagawa Station to Haneda Airport (not covered under JR Pass)

Thank you very much for your time!

Best
Mi Mi

Hi Mi Mi,

With my first part I mean: If you can use the JR Pass to travel from Tokyo to Osaka, do all the travel you planned there, and then return to Tokyo before the pass expired.

Travel to all the citiesAs for Haneda Airport: you can use the Tokyo Monorail + JR Yamanote line to get there for free using the pass.

Hope this helps :)
