Good evening
We are travelling to Japan at the end of March for 12 days. This is our itinerary:
30.03 Arrive Haneda airport
4 days in Tokyo
02.04 Transfer to Matsumoto for 2 days (possible day trip to Kanazawa from there)
04.04 Transfer to Kyoto for 3 days (side trips to Nara and Osaka)
07.04 Transfer to Hiroshima
09.04 Transfer to Onomichi
10.04 Transfer to Himeji
11.04 Transfer to Nikko
12.04 Transfer to Haneda airport for return flight

My question is: will it be better value to buy a Osaka-Tokyo Hokuriko Arch Pass for the first part of the holiday and then a 7 day JR Pass for the second half or a 14 day JR pass? I think the Hokuriku Arch Pass is a little cheaper but will it cover all the places we want to visit.
Also, how long would the journey be from Himeji to Nikko and from Nikko to Haneda Airport?

Thank you for your help

Hi there,

Unfortunately the Hokuriku Arch Pass will not cover travel to Matsumoto, but it may be a good idea to purchase it and use the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Nagano and then take the Shinonoi Line to Matsumoto for a small fare. From there, returning to Nagano you can then get to Kyoto and the rest of your itinerary is covered by the JR Pass.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
