Hello there,
We are planning to visit Japan in April. Arriving April1 and leaving on April16. We planning to use 14 day JR Pass. We like to start with Tokyo first to catch up cherry blossom. We want to ride rail from Tokyo to south all the way to Nagasaki to see cheery blossom. Then back from south to north, end in Hokkaido and back to Tokyo. We are hoping Hop on hop off for 1or 2 days in each major cities on JR train routes.
Please advise us which is more efficient way to travel by JR trains.

Thanks,

Kyaw

Hi Kyaw,

First have a look at a Cherry blossom forecast, these days it starts mid-March in Tokyo due to the climate getting warmer (this can change per year). However, there is a good chance that it may be nearing its end around the 1st of April in Tokyo. Therefore, I would suggest either be flexible with your accommodation bookings and instead of going to Nagasaki first, go up to Hikkaido. This will give you a better chance of really enjoying the Cherry blossom.

A JR Pass will be great here, as you can travel as much as you'd like and take any train you want (with some limitations).

Kind regards,
Daniel
