whether the ticket JR Hokkaido Pass can be used to train to Shin aomori ??

if I see from this link it appears there is a red line that connects hokkaido - Tohoku, but I still doubt whether true JR Hokkaido Pass can be used ??
because I have a plan to hakodate then continue to Matsumae castle and museum Seikan tunnel, I mean if indeed JR Hokkaido Pass can be used to cross to Shin-aomori be able to save on the budget transport ..
and at what time the first and last trains departing to the shin aomori ??
