Hi appreciate some advice as to which mode of transport and whether jr passes are needed. We are travelling with two two yr olds and arriving into haneda.

We will stay the night at the airport hotel and travel to tokyo Disney the next day. I think the best to disney is via limousine bus? After 3 nights there we move to Kyoto so need advice what's the best way to the tokyo station for us to take the Shinkansen to Kyoto. After two nights in Kyoto we travel back to tokyo and will be staying at ginza. We then travel back from ginza to haneda.

Appreciate any recommendations and advice. thanks!

Hi there!

Tokyo with twins sounds like the name of a new novel. Books aside, I do think that a 7 day JR Pass is worth considering for your travels. The 7 day JR pass is roughly the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto on the Shinkansen but now you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same price.

You can for instance use the JR Pass for local travel around Tokyo, to Disneyland or to Haneda Airport. Also children below the age of 6 are free of charge.

Disneyland can easily be reached by train, the station name is Maihama and can be reached in 20min from Tokyo and is it is certainly worth considering this route if you have the JR Pass.

Hope this helps!
Daniel

Hi Daniel, thanks for the input. Just wondering how accessible the trains are as we will likely have two luggage sine pull along, a stroller and two toddlers to manage! Stairs and all would be a nightmare so appreciate your advice again!

Also to clarify can the jr pass be used on the tokyo metro?

Luggage could be a problem if you carry a lot with you. All bigger stations are well equipped with elevators and escalators so it has been made as easy as possible for you.

The pass is not valid on the metro but you can use it on the local JR Network throughout Tokyo which is very extensive and covers most areas of the metropolis.
