Taking Sunrise Seto from Osaka to Tokyo help

Good day,

I would be arriving to Japan on August 4, 2013 via Kansai Airport in the late evening. Assuming I could activate a Japan Rail Pass around 10PM, would I be able to reserve a nobi-nobi seat for the Sunrise Seto overnight train going to Tokyo no problems? My concern would be the train is already fully reserved by then, and I'll have no other options.

Also, would I be able to reserve from the station at Kansai Airport or it needs to be at Osaka Station?

Thanks.

Hi there,

I am afraid that it may prove impossible to book the Sunrise express on such short notice. It is especially popular during summer and may sell out weeks in advance.

You can always try your luck and see if someone cancelled their tickets before departure, you can do so at any JR Office, including Kansai Airport.

I would strongly recommend having a plan B ready in case you can't board the Sunrise. There are some budget hotels around the Airport or you could travel to Osaka and spend to night close to the station to travel on the next morning!

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news,
Daniel
