Hello,
We will be travelling from Canada and would like to purchase a 7 day rail pass. It says that we need to have a Permanent Resident Card as proof that we have lived in Canada for 10 yrs.
If we don't have that document, can we use our Drivers License as proof? It has a 5 year expiry date on it.

Or is there other documents from Canada that we can use? Birth certificate?

thank you
Kelly

Hi there,

This only applies to Japanese nationals / passport holders. If you are Canadian, or any other nationality (just not Japanese), then your passport is enough to travel and use the JR Pass.

For more information see JRPass Eligibility.

Kind regards,
Daniel
