Hi! I will be staying in osaka for about a month this march and I'm planning to travel to kyoto, tokyo and surrounding areas for a week too.
Is a 7-days JR pass a suitable choice? or a JR Kansai west pass?
Osaka-Tokyo and surrounding areas: which JR pass to pick?
Hi there!
The JR Pass is the only pass that will cover the route from Osaka - Tokyo. Will you be making a return from Osaka/Kyoto to Tokyo? In that case I would recommend the pass as it is the same price of a normal return ticket Osaka/Kyoto to Tokyo only now you get 7 days unlimited travel for the same price!
Hope this helps!
Daniel
Hi Daniel-san,
Thanks for the reply =). I've decided to visit kyoto on weekends during the 1-month stay in osaka, then I'll go to tokyo for a week. But I am flying back home from tokyo so I'll probably not return to osaka again. So does that mean the JR pass would not be of much use?
Thanks again!
Shin
Hi Shin,
In that case it would be better to buy a one way ticket Osaka/Kyoto - Tokyo. The JR Pass is great when you travel around the country but you would not be able to make savings with a one way Osaka/Kyoto to Osaka.
Have a great time in Japan! One month is awesome :)
Daniel
