Hi there. My friends and I are visiting japan from 30 October 2013 to 5 November 2013 covering Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Kobe. Do you think it is worth to get a JR pass and the fares. Will it make a big difference traveling in shinkansen.

Thanks,
JuanLing

Hi JuanLing,

The above travel of Osaka - Kyoto - Nara - Kobe - Osaka is all covered by the JR Pass, however all these places are very close to each other and all reside in the Kansai Area. Travel between these places is not very expansive and a JR Pass would not pay off. In general you will be best of with buying normal tickets when you travel around Kansai instead of buying an area pass.

I hope this helps!
Daniel
