Dear Daniel,

I just realized that I am traveling to Kyoto from Osaka on the day of the festival, do you know what time the main parade begins? and in what area?
or are festivities all day? I am trying to plan my activities away from the festivities, any suggestions? I am thinking of Miho Museum. All of the bicycle tours are fully booked in the city for those May 15-17.
Your input has been invaluable. thanks

Hi there,

I looked up the festival at it starts at 10:30 from the Imperial Palace and then visits different temples in the city. The parade ends in the late afternoon but there are still many things to enjoy, such as food stents until the evening.

If you want to plan a visit away from everything, consider a visit to Uji, Fushimi Inari or perhaps even Nara.

Hope this helps!
Daniel

Dear Daniel,
thanks. Great idea. That sounds like a good plan.
