Hello!
From reading some other posts I'm not sure whether the JR Pass will be essential for our 16 day Japan trip and I'm wondering if you could help us decide whether or not it's worth purchasing one for the travel we have planned!
We had always planned on grabbing one because others had told us it was essential. We were originally going to travel from Tokyo up to Hokkaido (Sapporo) via train, but now we have chosen to fly there to save time. With those plans changing I'm not quite sure if we will need the pass as we aren't doing a great deal of travelling within Japan on this particular trip.
The only 'side trips' we have planned from Tokyo are Hakone and Nikko. We were also originally going to go to places like Nara and Hiroshima... but have since decided that they are a bit far away and that we would save it for a longer trip. So with all of those plans now having changed and our only major travel within Tokyo being those two small day trips. Would the JR Pass be worth buying at all? or will it just be cheaper to purchase tickets as we go?
We will of course be travelling throughout Tokyo and Sapporo on a daily basis using trains. But likely for no longer than 30 minute trips at a time.
Thanks for any advice you can offer!
