JR Pass for 21 days or other choices?

Hello I'm currently in travelling in the South Pacific area . I'm planning on a trip to Japan for 21 days strarting on March 19th and ending April 9th .
Would you recommend that I get a JR Pass or rather book the tickets as I move fro city to city ? Also if I register the JR Pass since I am on the move in the South Pacific can I ask the JR pass to be delivered and activated on my arrival at Narita? As I am a newbie to Japan should I go also for the pocket wi-fi to always have wi-fi everywhere. Aniy other options recommended?

Hi there,

Whether you should purchase a JR Pass or not depends on your itinerary and its timeframe. The main thing to consider is whether you'll be using the Shinkansen trains a lot or not - once you have decided on an itinerary, you can use our Fare calculator to see whether the JR Pass will be worth it. Please note that this needs to be done quickly to ensure that you receive your JR Pass exchange order in the mail.

Hi Alexis thank you for the response..

I've finally made the request and received JP order confirmation #2637633 which gave me a tracking number . Now the good news is that it is on its way.. The bad news is that the delivery date to my hotel in Fidji is too late March 21st and I'll be leaving on March 18th. I've sent an email to tnt fiji which should receive the exchange voucher and deliver it to my hotel. Is there someone at JRPASS that can ask fedex to expedite this? So far the package has already left the Fedex hub at Paris CDG airport . Regards Peter65
