Getting from Mercure Narita Hotel to Tokyo Train Station

We are leaving Mercure Narita Hotel on 29 September to catch the train to Kyoto. We hold the Japan rail pass and would like to get to Kyoto in the early afternoon.
1. What is the best train or bus to catch to get to the Tokyo station and where from? (Do we need to go to the airport to catch the JR Narita Express, or does it stop somewhere near our hotel)
2. Do we have to reserve the seat on the train to Kyoto and how do we do that?
3. How long will take us to get from Mercure Narita to the Tokyo train station?
Thanks
Nina

Hi Nina,

1.) I do think it would be best to take the Narita Express from Narita station (which is close to your hotel) to Tokyo station and transfer to the Shinkansen from there. Here is an example itinerary.

2.) You can make seat reservations directly at the station. Here's how to make seat reservations. The Narita Express does require reservations beforehand, these can be made up to 5min before departure.

3.) It is about 60-90 minutes travel to Tokyo station.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
