If my child is turning 6 years old while we are in Japan, do I have to purchase a pass for them? She will be 5 years old for all of our trip except for the last 2 days

Hi there,
You would need a ticket for after she reaches 6. You could buy normal tickets for the last 2 days, these are 50% of the adult fare.
Keep in mind that children without a ticket are not entitled to a seat, i.e. she would have to be on your lap in case of busy trains. It may be worth it to get a pass for her.
Kind regards,
Daniel
