Hello,
Many thanks in advance for your response. Planning a trip for March 25-April1. Land in Osaka on the morning of 25th - stay 1 night
26th - 27th: to Fussa to visit/stay with friends, to Tokyo, back and forth to Fussa as home base
28th: to either Hakone or Kawaguchiko,
29th- 30th: to Kyoto,
31st: to Osaka and a day trip to Nara
Fly out Osaka on 1st.
Using the itinerary planner it didn't seem like it made sense to buy the pass, but I'm not sure. I also was having difficulty figuring out travel to the Mt. Fuji area, either Hakone or Kawaguchiko (Kawaguchiko is my preference, but I understand it's not as easy to travel to?).
Obviously given our short visit, I'd like to minimize travel time, but also be covered with all areas of transportation.
Best,
Emily

Hi Emily,

A 7 day Japan Rail Pass is worth considering if you can cover the trip Osaka - Tokyo - Hakone - Osaka with it. The cost of a 7 day Japan Rail Pass is similar to a return ticket Tokyo - Osaka using the Shinkansen. From there, any additional travel is basically what you'd save.

For Fuji, I recommend reading:

Hope this helps,
Daniel
