If I already have a JR Pass do I have to pay extra for travelling on the Wide-View train from Nagoya to Takayama and returning back from Takayama to Nagoya?
Wide-View train from Nagoya to Takayama
Hi John,
The Wide-View train from Nagoya to Takayama and back is fully covered with the JR Pass. You may want to reserve your seat in advance before you board (reserved seats are free with the JR Pass).
Hope you have a great trip!
Thank you for the information.
From Shin Osaka Statation to Miyajima Ferry by ShinKansen which station must I stop to make my way to the Jr Ferry
to the island of Miyajima>
May I know the train time schedules leaving Shin Osaka Station around 7.00 a.m. What is the arrival time.
For the return trip to ShinOsaka what are the time schedules leaving the station at Miyajima?
Deoarture and arrival times please. Thank you
John
Hi John,
The stop you want for the Miyajima ferry is 'MIYAJIMAGUCHI'. This stop is accessible from Hiroshima station. Here's a sample itinerary from Shin-Osaka to Miyajimaguchi at 7am suitable for use with a JR Pass - leaving on the 7.20am bullet train will get you to Miyajimaguchi at 9.20am.
You can look up train timetables and costs for your return leg at the Hyperdia travel planning website and learn how to use Hyperdia for Japan Rail Pass holders through our video blog.
Hope this helps!
How do I go to Lake Ashi from Tokyo. With a JR Pass I can travel to Odawara by Shinkansen.
What about the rest of the journey to Lake Ashi and cross the lake by boat. Which trains, ropeway,
bus and boat must I take and do I have to pay or do my JR Pass allow me to travel free without extra
charge?
Hi John,
For getting up to Hakone, you'll need to use the Odakyu company series of lines. They offer a pass called the Hakone Free Pass that offers free travel across Hakone up to the lakes and so on. You can purchase this pass on arrival at Odawara, and learn more about it here. As these lines are non-JR you will not be able to use your JR pass I'm afraid.
Hope this helps!
Other than the JR trains, what are the mode of transportation can a JR Pass holder be entitled
to use without havinmg to pay extra charge in cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima Kyoto, Kobe,
Nagoya, Takayama. Are the JR Buses, Tram cars etc have the Jr Logo on the vehicles for the
information of a JR Pass holder? Is there a website to give me this information inm each major city in Japan?
Thank you.
Hi John - The JR Pass entitles you to travel on many JR buses and the Miyajima ferry. You can find full validity information here. If the service you are thinking of is not listed here as an exception you are free to use it with the JR Pass.
I hope this helps!
